Dropbox give you 2GB absolutely free when you download the app. I'd recommend you go through their full setup process which gives you more free storage for simply reading their very brief instructions and even for a quick tweet about them!
But the most useful advice, and one that has obviously helped to make Dropbox such a huge success, is that you can increase your free space to a whopping 16GB simply by inviting friends to join via the link from your account.
